Information for Independent Fostering Agencies (IFA) and Voluntary Adoption Agencies (VAA)

Agency guide to using the Be My Parent website

Representatives from IFAs and VAAs can now use Be My Parent FOR FREE to view children's profiles and make enquiries if they are BAAF members. When Be My Parent online was launched in May 2007, we charged a modest registration fee for Voluntary Adoption Agencies and Independent Fostering Agencies. In recognition of the valuable contribution that these agencies make in placing children, we have reviewed our policy and are happy to announce that, from 1 January 2010, there will no longer be a registration fee for BAAF member agencies.

If you are currently set up to use the site, that arrangement will continue. If you are an agency which has paid a registration fee beyond January 2010, contact Be My Parent to discuss a possible refund.

Non BAAF member agencies will need to pay an annual registration fee of £150 to use the service.

Getting started

It is very easy to start using the Be My Parent website to start searching through the children's profiles. All you need is to contact the Be My Parent team.

We will set you up on our system as an organisation subscriber, giving you your login details and password. You can then start searching the children's profiles.

Making an enquiry

When you search the children's profiles and make an enquiry about a child (by clicking 'Enquire about this child' at the end of their profile), the system will let the local authority know that you are a VAA or an IFA. Your contact details will be passed on to the referring agency, who will get back to you directly.

If you are enquiring on behalf of a particular family, why not encourage them to subscribe to Be My Parent online? This will mean that they can make enquiries directly to agencies themselves.
