IAN AND GILLIAN are a warm, welcoming, homely married couple who live a predictable, ordered life. They have known each other for almost 17 years and have been married for 14 years. Ian and Gillian live by Christian principles and their social networks revolve around the church, where they have contact with families and children. They both enjoy walking in the countryside and watching wildlife, especially birds. Ian and Gillian also like going ten-pin bowling, playing badminton and going out for meals with friends.

Ian and Gillian enjoy playing a part in the lives of their nieces and nephews. When the children were younger, they were actively involved with them. They are now 14 and seven and have busy lives, doing lots of after-school activities, though Ian and Gillian still take an interest in what they are doing. The couple are now looking forward to having a child of their own.

Ian and Gillian do not feel able to parent a child who may have a history of sexual abuse, but would consider a child where there may be come uncertainty about development or heath issues, or there is a background of learning difficulties.

IAN is hard-working, honest and trustworthy. He enjoys doing jobs around the house, gardening, and helping at his church’s Sunday school. Ian works as a gardener for a local university.

GILIAN is generous and very caring, and like Ian, hard-working, honest and trustworthy. She enjoys cooking and gardening, and also visiting her friends, goddaughter and sister, who all live locally. Gillian works part time as a care assistant and relief assistant manager at a residential home for the elderly.
