Mobin and Frida
aged 48 and 45
MOBIN & FRIDA are a warm and patient married couple, committed to providing a safe, happy, caring and stable home for any child placed with them. Their family includes their daughter and two sons, and together they have a range of hobbies, which fit around their children and the needs of the whole family.
Mobin and Frida live in a large five-bedroomed Victorian house, with one spare bedroom, in a quiet part of a major city in south-west England. The area is ethnically diverse, with a strong Pakistani community. There are good local amenities and transport links within walking distance of Mobin and Frida’s home. Also in the area are different places of worship and good local primary and high schools. Both Mobin and Frida drive, and each own a car.
Mobin and Frida consider themselves to be a traditional Pakistani Muslim family. Mobin visits the mosque every Friday and their children attend every day to learn and read the Koran. Mobin and Frida would ideally like to have a child of Muslim faith placed with them, as they feel that they can provide understanding and a positive and supportive environment for such a child.
Mobin and Frida have fostering experience of providing short-break care and day relief for looked after children, and have attended a range of core training programmes, such as Paediatrics First Aid, Parent & Baby, Managing Challenging Behaviour, and Recording & Children’s Information File Management. They listen and communicate well with children and young people.
MOBIN likes spending time with his children. He also enjoys cricket and attending mosque. Mobin has worked as a special constable for twenty years. He says that the best thing he has learnt is that “If you have respect for someone and demonstrate it, they are more likely to respect you back”.
FRIDA enjoys cooking, sewing and listening to Radio 4. She loves learning and has an interest in languages and writing. Frida has experience of running a play scheme for south Asian children and young people with physical and learning difficulties. She also provides practical and emotional support to families with children or young people with physical and learning difficulties.
Ethnic and cultural descent: Asian British of Pakistani descent, Muslim; Mobin and Frida speak English and Urdu
Approval status: approved as permanent foster carers for one child, of either gender, aged between three to 13 years, ideally of Muslim faith
