What does it cost

It costs £25 to feature family profiles online for up to a year from date of upload.

Who can apply?

  • Approved families can self-refer, with the agreement of their social worker
  • Social workers can also refer families

What is needed?

Please forward to Be My Parent, by post, fax or email:

  • A written profile
  • Either a glossy or digital photograph(s) (glossy photos will be returned)
  • If applicable, a video clip (please refer to our separate technical guidelines)

What should the profile mention?

There are no set word count restrictions, though we do recommend, for readability, a maximum word count of around 500 words.

The profile should not contain identifying information (location; jobs), but should include:

  • The first names of family members with their age (optional)
  • A general introductory paragraph about the family: relevant family history, lifestyle and joint activities, parenting style, support networks, etc
  • An individual paragraph for each family member (including children): personality, relevant personal history, hobbies, work
  • General details: ethnicity; adoption or fostering status; region or country

What happens next?

  • The profile is revised by Be My Parent staff to fit in with our house style and follow good social work practice. It is then returned to the social worker and the family, if appropriate, for approval. Because the profile is online, it will not be ‘stuck in print’, and the family’s social worker can update or amend the profile when they feel necessary
  • When the profile is approved, it will be made available online for the general public and subscribers, with our contact details published beneath. We will forward any enquiries received to the social worker’s email address
