Barnardo’s adoption and fostering information events

Exploring adoption events - Manchester, Liverpool, Birmingham, North Wales
After Adoption are a voluntary adoption agency providing adoption support services for people at every stage of their adoption journey. The 'Families that Last' team assesses and approves adopters across the North West, North Wales, Leeds and Yorkshire and the Midlands. Go along to their Exploring Adoption event to meet the team and find out more about the process and the children who are waiting. They will also be able to tell you about the highly recommended post-adoption support services they offer, including SafeBase, a therapeutic parenting support programme. It is an informal event and you can just drop in, or give them a call in advance and they can send you an information pack.

Families that Last host drop-in sessions at the Head Office in Manchester every Wednesday, 10am-4pm. Anyone who would like to find out more about adoption is welcome to come along and discuss their questions with a member of the Families that Last team. Open evenings in Blackpool

Myth busting events in Northumberland
Northumberland County Council need all sorts of families for all sorts of children, especially school age children.
Whether you’re ready to make an enquiry or not, please go along to one of their myth busting events. These sessions, covering postcodes beginning in NE (Newcastle upon Tyne), TD, DH, EH, SR, DL, TS, give you the chance find out more and to meet up with some of the team, including young people, foster carers and adoptive parents. It is not a compulsory part of the recruitment process, but you can go along whether you have enquired or have started your application.

Adoption information evenings in Nottingham and Derby
Family Care’s adoption information evenings offer a gentle introduction to anyone thinking about adopting as well as giving people the opportunity to meet with the team and their adopters. Just some of the feedback they had in 2014:

Staffordshire County Council Adoption Information Meeting
Staffordshire County Council are holding adoption sessions providing information about adopting with them and what it is really like. The sessions are friendly, relaxed and are led by their specialised social workers. Go along, take all the information away with you and just listen. There's also the option to have a confidential chat with one of their social workers.
Peterborough Adoption are a small, dynamic, local authority agency with impressive approval rates, and are looking for new applicants.

Reading adoption and fostering information evenings, Reading
Parents and Children Together (PACT) runs informal evenings for couples or individuals interested in adoption or fostering. Each event is led by a PACT social worker and will include a talk from someone who has adopted or fostered through PACT.
