ANNETTE & ADRIAN are a close and loving couple who have a great deal of respect for each other, and work well together. They have known each other for nine years, and been married for six. Annette and Adrian both like reading, listening to music, DIY and gardening. Annette also enjoys travelling and days out shopping to antique fairs, while Adrian is keen on skiing and playing the guitar.
Annette and Adrian encourage a friendly and welcoming family environment. They live with their young son in a detached house with a large garden and one spare bedroom. The area is within five minutes’ driving distance of all amenities, and also close to lots of green space and parks. Their son, aged ten, is a bright, articulate child who likes football and chess. As a family, they enjoy swimming, bike riding and walking.
Annette and Adrian have experience of parenting their birth son and of caring for the children of family members and friends. Their son is encouraged to live by routine and within boundaries, and the family is keen on resolving problems through discussion with one another.
Since being approved, Annette and Adrian have gained valuable fostering experience by providing respite care, which they have found to be both positive and rewarding. The couple are also approved for short term, emergency, respite and bridging care, as well as permanent fostering, and would consider parent and baby placements.
Annette and Adrian have worked closely with other professionals and other parents for many years, and their report writing and communication skills are of a high standard. Annette has worked within the care profession as a manager for several years, and has a good understanding of what is involved in caring for foster children. She currently works flexible hours in the care profession, offering exercise for older people, and also working as a project co-ordinator. Her priority is being at home for her son and any foster children. Adrian works full time as a site supervisor.
Annette’s previous work experience makes her particularly suitable for caring for children with special needs, and she has completed several years of professional training in care-related subjects through previous jobs. The couple have both completed Foundations for Fostering training and will receive ongoing training through their agency.
